Mahesh Bhupathi and his Partner Todd Woodbridge entered Round 2 of the Gerry Weber Open 2005 in Halle, Germany.
The Indo-Australian duo defeated Julian Knowle (Australia)/Jürgen Melzer (Austria) 6:3, 6:4 and could face local heroes Nicolas Kiefer/Alexander Waske. Kiefer/Waske are schedule to play the Spanish duo Feliciano Lopez/Rafael Nadal.
Bhupathi/Woodbridge started the match nervously, while Mahesh faced some difficulties to win his first serve. Getting the problems under control, Bhupathi/Woodbridge started to dominate the match in the late first and early second set.
Meanwhile defending champion Leander Paes had to pull out of the tournament. Paes suffered a ellbow injury, while playing at the French Open mixed final. He might be ruled out for about three weeks.
